Welcome! Thank you for visiting Five Tribes Therapy!

san diego therapyI understand that starting the therapeutic process can be a daunting prospect and I applaud you for taking this first step. Finding the perfect fit with a psychotherapist can be challenging but rewarding at the same time. There are certainly many clinicians to chose from, of all ages, stages, walks of life, genders, and specialties, etc. A good rule of thumb is to give yourself a chance to find a good fit, utilizing a “give it three times” concept. I look forward to the prospect of meeting with you and accompanying you on a journey of personal growth and achievement.

Please take a look around my website and if you have any comments or questions, please contact me, either by telephone or email. Also, as something of a techno-geek, I have a web presence that includes a Facebook Business page, a LinkedIn page, a Google Business page, and a listing in Psychology Today. While these sites are designed to overlap in various ways, each can offer a fresh perspective to a potential client.

Therapeutic Approach

I utilize an Eclectic Therapeutic approach as I have found, over the years, that “bits and pieces” of various therapeutic theory resonates more clearly with me, and, subsequently, with my clients.

I find work on Communication styles and modes to be extremely helpful, as well as work on creating, developing, and enhancing coping skills to be of primary importance. Some of these approaches are the cornerstone of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I bring a new perspective to CBT, as I have been trained at a Master’s Level in effective modes of communication.

Additionally, I have been training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and find, in particular, Mindfulness, to be something that can be and should be applied daily in life in all things.

And, as all people are members of formal and informal groups in their lives, beginning with the family, I also employ Family Systems Therapy in aspects of my therapeutic methodology.

Finally, I have completed my initial, Basic Training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and have begun to specialize in this particular method of treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and, even, Depression and Anxiety.
